GUTTERRATT
Has anybody heard of a 1929 Thompson chamberd in .30 Mauser ? http://www.sturmgewehr.com/webBBS/nfa4sale.cgi?read=119179
dalbert
GUTTERRATT, He's referring to Model of 1929 B.S.A. Thompsons. They have a different appearance than the classic TSMG, and were made in very limited numbers in England by B.S.A. for Auto-Ordnance in an effort to stir European sales. The firearm uses the Blish locking mechanism, and was not commercially successful. They are covered in both of Tracie Hill's Collector Grade Publications Thompson books. james m
For some reason I seem to remember reading that the Chinese turned out some Thompsons is 30 Mauser. This was done due to the popularity of the C96(Broomhandle) pistol in that caliber and the wide availability of 30 Mauser ammo. Jim

Jim Jim, Yes, there were some Thompson Submachine Guns that the Chinese converted to .30 Mauser. They are not the 1929 Model B.S.A. Thompsons which are referred to by GUTTERRATT, mentioned in the post on Sturmgewehr.com. David Albert dalbert@sturmgewehr.com

artie in miami
Every so often one of the "BSA" thompson mags in .30 tokorev (mauser) shows up on one of the auction sites or vendors. I picked up two of them last year to go with my chinese modified 1928 parts set...also found a spare bolt that was modified. This way, I don't need the mag-well adapter the chinese came up with...that involves drilling a hole in the trigger group and some other modifications...the BSA mags slide right in. They were not cheap...around $500 each !! But...at least now I have the entire conversion set. artie
