WillieWonkaM60
I found this neat little Thompson in an August 2007 issue of Small Arms Review that my uncle gave me. It says under the picture that its a shortened "Special Purpose" M1 Thompson designed for Commando Forces and that heat shield on the front isn't muzzle break or suppressor but it acts as your front grip. I've seen Thompson pistols before but never something this small. Anyone ever see this before? I tried to research it but found NOT ONE bit of info on it. I'd like to know what commando force used these and when. Its a pretty cool little gun. http://i689.photobucket.com/albums/vv254/M...ka/GEDC1688.jpg Edited February 26, 2011 by WillieWonkaM60
mnshooter
Hopefully somebody can also explain the purpose of the two lugs on the side of the receiver.
bug
Hopefully somebody can also explain the purpose of the two lugs on the side of the receiver. Maybe a wire stock like the G gun?

reconbob
I don't think that is an original Thompson. It looks like a Chinese or Vietnamese cheap copy. Interesting. Bob

Shattered
I'm sure Son's will find some "Sheriff" that needs a half dozen of them for their SWAT unit... for 10K apiece...

reconbob
Arthur - any background on the "under license" by Auto Ord of Bridgeport CT? RPB was doing this when? In the late 1970's or early 1980's? Who did they contact and who gave them the license? This is most interesting... Bob
giantpanda4
Hmmmmm.... both 28 and M1 variants. I think they both have shortened receivers too... wonder what is inside them?
35divmp
It almost looks like the goofy Thompsons they used in U-571 or whatever they called that stupid sub movie a few years ago. Jay
Hawkeye_Joe
How much was the M1 receiver slimmed down? What kind of bolt/actuator did they use? Does it have a blish? Is the receiver shortened as well as slimmed down?

Jay I think that was a folding stock Reising (Model 55), not a Thompson.

They may have used Thompsons as well. I distinctly remember the M55. Edited February 28, 2011 by texasvwnut

Hawkeye_Joe
I'd say what David Keith is holding in the upper photo is a Reising....you can see the cocking slot.
Paladin601
with all that porosity in the reciever looks as though it was a casting, then machined.
colorado1919
Check out this site they used both the the Reising M55 and Thompsons with what look like M1A1 Carbine stocks in the U571 movie.http://www.imfdb.org/wiki/U571 Edited June 8, 2013 by colorado1919
colorado1919
Those RPBs are really interesting looking guns for sure. Did not RPB make MAC10s at one time. Really makes you wonder what is inside one of these guns.
